This seems like cheating, because I just finished this book last weekend.
Before the violence begins, this society seems pretty orderly and calm (for a dystopian society). At least they're not ritualistically sending their children to kill each other every year. *cough* Hunger Games *cough* But really, isn't part of the point of dystopian books to point out how terrible things could be after nuclear fallout/velociraptor invasions/mysterious attack of unknown origins? So why would we want to live there? But Four is pretty hot from the sounds of it.
